The story behind the project “Tram 83”
The project, initiated back in 2015, went through various stages to be realized at the end of 2024. Thanks to the efforts of Sofia Municipality, Municipal Enterprise “Tourism” and Oborishte District, “Tram 83” is today restored to its original appearance and ready to serve as a tourist attraction and information center. In his speech Anton Penev, Director of OP “Tourism”, expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful implementation of this idea. After almost a decade of delay, Tram 83 is a symbol of sustainability and cooperation between institutions, business and society.
“Located in the area known as the Quadrilateral of Religious Tolerance, Tram 83 is in close proximity to cultural and historical landmarks such as the Museum of Sofia History, the Women’s Market and the Kvartal district. This area reflects the coexistence of different cultures and religions, and attracts tourists from all over the world.
The new Tourist Information Centre offers a unique experience – travelling back in time while discovering modern Sofia. This is a place everyone should visit to feel the spirit of the millennial city.
We at Matti know that Sofia continues to develop as an attractive tourist destination and we are very proud to be part of this process, and the new tram promises to become one of the capital’s most beloved attractions. 🍒
